Proceedings of the 8th Workshop on Atlanto-Mediterranean Sponge Taxonomy
A new species of Spongionella (Dendroceratida: Dysideidae) is described from the Gulf of Mexico. In addition to Dysidea and Ellryspongia, this documents a third dysideid genus from this location, and provides the first record of a foliose dendroceratid from the western Atlantic. The systematics of Spongionella is discussed.
