Ten species of polydorids occurring in the Otago Harbour and on exposed shores of the Otago Peninsula are described and a key to the known New Zealand species is provided. The species of Boccardia and Polydora described are Boccardia jubata n.sp., B. otakouica n.sp., Polydora armata Langerhans, P. dorsomaculata n.sp., P. giardi Mesnil, and P. quadricirrata n.sp. Paraboccardia n.g., characterised by the presence of hooded hooks on setiger VIII and succeeding setigers, but not on setiger VII, and by the presence of gills anterior to setiger V, is erected for four new species: P. knoxi n.sp., P. lamellata n.sp., P. acus n.sp., and P. syrtis n.sp.
