Introduction: "The Palau or Pelew Islands under the Japanese mandate are the most western group of the Carolines and form the western outpost of Micronesia. They are roughly crossed by 7.3 degrees North Latitude and 134.3 degrees East Longitude. The following· account of the polychaetous annelids of the Palau Islands and their neighbouring waters is based mainly upon a collection made by Professor Tohru Uchida and by myself during our short stay in the Islands in 1934. Several specimens collected by Mr. F. Hiro from the same regions in 1934-1935 are also included here."
