Pavelius uschakovi gen. et sp. n. is described, which is one of the main components of the recently discovered new community, found in the zone of gas hydrate spring at a depth of about 800 m. These polychaetes are believed to use serobacteria forming a thin film on the surface of the ground, as their basic food. Their possibility to use endosymbiotic serobacteria is also discussed.
