Contribution to the polychaete fauna of the Polynesian Islands Huahine (Society Islands) and Rangiroa (Tuamotu Islands). - The present paper deals with polychaetes collected by Gerd Hartmann and the author in August und September 1982. 51 species of polychaetes were found of which 39 are already known (some of them described by the author from different parts of Australia). Eight species are new to science and will be described (Pholoe tuamotuensis, Typosyllis (Langerhansia) kiaorensis. Auwlytus Tangimaensis, A. devaneyi, Nereis rangiroaensis, Pseudonereis multisetosa. Protoariel1a tuamotuensis, Terebel1ides biaciculata), while four remain in open nomenclature. All samples were taken in the phytal zone of the coral reefs, mainly from seaweeds such as Turbinaria and corallines growing on dead corals.
