Publication
Collation after Johnson (1969) Pfeiffer's Novitates Conchologicae, Series I, Land Mollusca, 1854–1879, and Dunker's Novitates Conchologicae, Series II, Marine Mollusca, 1862–1882. A complete collation. Journal of the Society for the Bibliography of Natural History, 5(3): 236–239; the printing dates are indicated on the first page of each signature.
The supraspecific taxonomy is organized by Genus (Venus), Subgenus (Cytherea), and "Sectio" (Tivela pp. 1-24, Meretrix pp. 25-42, Callista pp. 43-78, Caryatis pp. 63-126; Dione pp. 127-146, Lioconcha pp. 147-172, Crista pp. 173-190, and Circe pp. 191-217 + unpaginated "Register"). The specific names are therefore deemed to be originally combined with Venus although they are combined with the "Sectio" names in the text; brackets for the author name are set accordingly.
