A new species of digenean trematode, Discogastroides macrostomus sp.nov., is described and figured from 79 gravid specimens recovered from the intestine of the boxfish O. immaculatus, caught off the Pacific coast of central Japan. It differs from the 3 previously known species of the genus in having a larger oral sucker, a smaller ventral sucker and a smaller sucker width ratio. Based on reexamination of holotype specimens, D. minor is considered a junior synonym of D. ostracionis.
