Description "Adult (Figs 1–5 and 7)
Valves fairly small for the genus (length from 1.00 to 1.08mm, height from 0.40 to 0.45mm, see Fig. 7), elongate in lateral outline, fairly equilateral (Fig. 1A–D), with fairly straight and not ramified radial pore canals. Right valve larger than left. Greatest height at midlength. Length approxi- mately 2.5 times maximum height. Lateral surface with three or four subcircular, small opaque pat- ches, the dorsocentral one smallest, dorsocentral and ventrocentral patches may be fused (Fig. 1A); one subtriangular, small, subtriangular patch at anterior portion of ventral margin; one small, elongate patch at posterior portion of ventral margin. Dark brown cuticle around ventrocentral opaque patch, and at dorsal margin. Right valve with dorsal margin evenly low-arched, with indis- tinct dorsal angle. Posterodorsal margin fairly straight. Anterior margin narrowly rounded. Ventral margin gently sinuous; with slightly con- spicuous, rounded prominence approximately at mouth region; and only slightly upswung posteri- orly. Posterior angle rounded, dorsal and ventral margins forming an angle of about 60°. Left valve with dorsal margin fairly straight anteriorly and posteriorly, and rounded medially, with indistinct dorsal angle. Anterior margin narrowly rounded. Ventral margin gently sinuous; with conspicuous, rounded prominence approximately at mouth region. Posterior angle rounded, dorsal and ventral margins forming an angle of about 60°. Zone of concrescence narrow; vestibules deep. Adductor muscle scar pattern with three large, dorsal scars and seven to eleven scars of variable sizes situated below. Carapace ovate-oblong in ventral and dorsal views (Fig.1E and F), anterior pointed, posterior rounded.
Antenna I (Fig.2A) with seven slender, elon- gate podomeres, with long, thin, flexible setae. Podomeres II and III fused with slight suture. Podomere VII with three setae.
Antenna II (Fig. 2B–F) robust, with six podo- meres. Podomere I short, broad, with two median- sized, ventral setae. Podomere III, medially, with six long, subequal setae located ventrally at prox- imal margin; ventrally at distal margin with four setae. Podomere IV with one thin seta proximally at dorsal margin; with one thin seta near ventro- distal edge; medially, dorsodistal angle (Fig. 2C and D) with one ventral seta, and two sexually dimorphic setae: simple in female (Fig.2C) and candle-shaped in male (Fig.2D). Sexually dimor- phic setae subequal in length in male, but in female ventral seta about two-thirds length of dorsal seta. Male also with one seta dorsal to sexually dimor-
phic setae. Podomere V subtriangular (Fig.2E); distal angle with four claws and one seta; dorso- proximal angle with one claw and one setae. Podomere VI (Fig.2F) narrower than podomere V, with one long and one median-sized claws, and two median-sized setae.
Mandible (Fig. 2G) with masticatory jaw armed with one dorsal, conical tooth followed by six tricuspidate teeth of graduated lengths, and several setae and pegs. Podomere I with exopodite with six long setae of graduated lengths at distal margin; and with three setae at ventrodistal angle. Podomere II with eight ventrodistal setae. Podo- mere III with two mid-dorsal setae and three ventrodistal setae. Podomere IV with four thick claws and two setae at distal margin.
Dorsal vibratory plate of maxilla I (Fig.3A) with two proximal setae; and with a series of long setae of graduated lengths along posterior and ventral margins. Palp slender, flexible with three podomeres. Podomere II with four dorsodistal setae. Podomere III with five distal setae.
Anterior lobe of appendage V (Fig. 3B–D) similar in males and females, with seven to nine setae. Female left and right appendages V (Fig. 3B) symmetrical, slender, withlong, thickdistalclaws.
Podomere IV with two distal claws (middistal one longest), and one dorsodistal claw. Male append- ages V very asymmetrical (Fig. 3C and D). Right appendage (Fig.3C) robust, sh [details]
