Remark Subgenus Astropus; type species of Astropus. Type locality: Mauritius. Assumed by Sladen (1889) and Döderlein (1917) to be conspecific with Asterias longipes Retzius, 1805, making Astropus a synonym of Chaetaster Müller & Troschel, 1840. Not so according to A.M. Clark (1993). The holotype could not be traced in the British Museum. Status of the species not clear. [details]
