Remark Serejo & Lowry recently collected Talorchestia terrareginae Haswell, 1880 (currently in synonymy with T. spinipalma (Dana, 1852), from Port Denison, Queensland, the type locality. They intend to redescribe the species, but the orignal description of T. spinipalma is not detailed and the matter of synonymy may be hard to resolve. This outcome may affect the distribution records of T. spinipalma.
Morino & Miyamoto, 1988, state that the description of T. spinipalma (Dana, 1852) differs from the Kusaie Island and Rennell Island material in having an elongate dactylus on male gnathopod 2 and pereopod 4 similar to pereopod 3. [details]
