From editor or global species database
Taxonomic remark King & Holmes (2004) - Comparison of material labelled as Ischyrocerus anguipes and Ischyrocerus minutus from Irish, Shetland and Norwegian localities confirms the validity of each species as well as providing evidence that all material previously referred to as I. anguipes from the British Isles is, in fact, I. minutus. Ischyrocerus minutus is a smaller and more robust species than I. anguipes and is most easily distinguished from I. anguipes by the morphology of the propodus of gnathopod 2 and the antennae. Mature males and similarly sized ovigerous females of I. minutus are almost half the size of males and ovigerous females of I. anguipes. Such a consistent size class structure provides further evidence that they are different species. [details]
