Uljanin proposes the name L. ovatus in the description (p.20), but in the captions of plate 5 the name L. ornatus is used. Leuckart (1871) uses the name Leuconoplana ovata for the species, as did Graff (1913; however, here as L. ovatus). However, Graff (1882) uses the name Acrorhynchus ornatus as the species. As Graff (1913) is the latest authority, Leuconoplana ovata is considered to be the only correct name of the taxon up to 1977 (ovata being the correct agreement in gender). The name was considered synonymous with P. mamertinus by Evdonin (1977), a view followed here.
