Eight species in five genera of lumbricid earthworms are recorded from the Jacquet River Gorge Protected Natural Area (JRG PNA), New Brunswick, Canada, the results of a preliminary survey. Seven of the species are considered European introductions. Octolasion cyaneum is recorded for the first time from Restigouche County, the species known previously in New Brunswick on the basis of two specimens collected in adjacent Northumberland County. Although recent molecular genetic evidence suggests Bimastos (Dendrodrilus) rubidus, recorded at a single site in the JRG PNA, is endemic to North America, the status of this species as native or introduced to Maritime Canada remains uncertain. More intensive earthworm collection in the JRG PNA may allow assessment of the persistence of non-native lumbricids as PNA roadways are permitted revert to natural forest.
