A new abyssal siphonostomatoid copepod from the Indian Ocean. Description of Abyssopontius altus n. gen., n. sp. (Copepoda, Siphonostomatoida, family Artotrogidae), collected in the Mid Indian Basin at a depth of 5300 m. This constitutes one of the deepest records for benthic siphonostomes.
