This work involves the study of the Foraminifera in some 70 Miocene samples and about 750 thin sections, mainly from Gebel Gharra but also from the Western and Eastern Deserts and Sinai. Some 70 species are described and illustrated. Two species are new: Heterostegina frizzelli and Discorbis bybeei. Supplementary characteristics are added to a number of biostratigraphic subdivisions recently introduced by the author. By using these, it is possible to suggest various correlations between G. Gharra, Qattara section XI, G. Atâqa, Habashi Well No. 1, G. Gushia and G. Zieta. It is also possible to describe the Miocene as Mediterranean and to define the paleoecological environment as usually normally marine, shallow and warm, probably tropical, with occasional indication of some agitation.
