The new sea star species Ctenophoraster downeyae (Family Astropectinidae) is described, and the presence of Zoroaster aff. fulgens (Family Zoroasteridae) is noted in probable Late Eocene sediments from Seymour Island, Antarctic Peninsula. These are the first fossil sea stars reported from the region. The two fossils are remarkably similar to extant species, demonstrating the establishment of generic morphologies by that time.
