Rich benthic foraminiferal assemblages were recorded from Wadi Bayad El Arab-Gebal Homret Shibon area (northeast Beni Suef, Nile Valley, Egypt), which exposes a candidate stratotype section for the middle and upper Eocene. The exposed middle and upper Eocene units contain abundant benthic foraminifera. This study represents the first taxonomic update of these classic faunas. Thus, 128 benthic foraminiferal species belonging to 46 genera and 28 families have been identified and are systematically described and figured. The assemblages include 3 new species (Marginulinopsis hewaidyi, Percultazonaria Shaarawyi and P. wignallii.
