Present article is the first of a series on the elaboration of the earthworm fauna of South America. A new genus: Onoreodrilus gen. nov. is described, with the type- species: 0. festae (Cognetti, 1904). Furthermore three species new for science are described: 0. botariorum sp. n., 0. benavidesi sp. n., and 0. loksai sp. n.
