There are no new taxa, with most of the species previously described by Cognetti de Martiis briefly without figures in 1911, although here he attempts to change the name of two species. Here he abbreviates his name to Cogn. as a past species author, although the running headline on every page uses the full "Cognetti de Martiis".
Publication date appears to be 1912 as discussed below. Volume 5 was published between 1906 and 1917, and other volumes similarly had livraisons appearing over several years. The publication date given at the start of volume 5, livraison 5 is 1914, although 1912 is the date used by later authors referring to this work, and the work in some form (preprint?) was available as early as 1912 to some as it appears in Michaelsen's compilation of Oligochaeta for 1912 ( Archiv für Naturgeschichte vol.79).
