A preliminary species lists of Antarctic Crinoidea was compiled by Andrew Clarke and Nadine Johnston of the British Antarctic Survey, with funding from the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office and British Antarctic Survey. These lists have been uploaded in a database maintained for SCAR-MarBIN at VLIZ; classification has been added and/or made consistent with information avalable at VLIZ, and synonymy checked.
The original list was checked and completed by the RAMS Taxonomic Editors, and is now up-to-date.
It is intended that this register, managed through the SCAR MarBIN project, will provide the most up to date information on the marine diversity of Antarctica. When constructed this web-site will be linked to the Oceanic Biology Information System (OBIS) and the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF).
