Identification The highly complex historical problem with the taxon name "macropora" allocated within the genera Clathria, Echinoclathria, Plectispa and Holompsamma was due to Lendenfeld's (1888) use of multiple (unrelated) specimens to represent a single taxon concept, when these represented at least three species.
