Taxonomy According to Hooper (1996) this is a Clathria (Microciona) species. Transfer to the genus Clathria would have caused a junior secondary homonymy with Clathria (Thalysias) toxifera (Hentschel, 1912, originally as Hymeraphia). Hooper (1996) elected the next available junior synonym, Clathria (Microciona) antarctica (Topsent, 1917, originally as Anchinoe toxifera var. antarctica) as replacement name. [details]
