Nomenclature Pavon-Novarin & Schejter(2026) changed the subgenus affiliation from subgenus Mycale to subgenus Carmia without explanation. From the original description by Hentschel (1914) it is clear that this species is a clear member of subgenus Mycale, so we refer Pavon-Novarin's record to Mycale (Mycale) gaussiana.
