Etymology Not stated in the original description. The new generic name is composed by the name of the genus Terebella Linnaeus, 1767, followed by the prefix of Greek origin di-, meaning 'two' or 'twice', and the Greek noun branquia, meaning 'gills', and refers presumably to the presence of only two pairs of branchiae, besides the resemblance of the new genus with the genus Terebella.
