Taxonomy Kirtley (1994) erected Lygdaminae for Sabellariidae with four parathoracic segments. No further diagnosis. Genera he included were Lygdamis, Mariansabellaria, Phalacrostemma, Gesaia, Bathysabellaria and Tetreres. Capa, Hutchings & Peart (2012) did not recover this subfamily in a morphological cladistic analysis and concluded that "this classification should be avoided." [details]
