Etymology The name of the genus Procome is composed by the Greek words pro, meaning 'before', 'forward', or 'in front of', and come, meaning 'hair'. According to Ehlers (1864: 221) the genus was created with base on the presence of eight pairs of cirri on the first segments. It is possible that the word come was used here not in the strict sense of 'hair', but in the more general sense of 'capillary filament'. [details]
