Etymology Not stated. Pictus -a -um is a dictionary adjective meaning painted. Possibly Dasychone 'picta' was chosen by McIntosh because the radioles "are beautifully streaked with reddish-brown and orange". Subsequently the species was transferred to neuter genus Pseudobranchiomma, and Putignano et al (2026) changed picta to 'pictum' for gender agreement. [details]
