Lectotype According to Horst (1924) and Bakken (2007) there were three syntypes originally, but only two remained in 2007, one of which was a Platynereis misidentified as a Pseudonereis. Bakken (2007) designated the single specimen, ZMA Vpol-954, as the lectotype [details]

Reproduction Hsueh (2021) describes a female epitoke recorded from Taiwan (type locality is Indonesia) as "ovigerous .... Body divided into two regions: 1) pre-natatory region from chaetiger 1 to 13; 2) natatory region from chaetiger 14 to end of body." A male epitoke is mentioned but the number of pre-natatory chaetigers is not stated, nor the pygidial structure. The lack of natatory chaetae is mentioned for the male, but this could be due to immaturity. [details]
