Etymology Not stated, but the the species is clearly named in honour of the collector of the type material, Thomas Nelson Annandale (b. Edinburgh, Scotland, 15 June 1876 - d. Calcutta, India, 10 April 1924), zoologist, entomologist, anthropologist, and herpetologist, who became director of the Indian Museum in Calcutta in 1907, started the Records and Memoirs of the Indian Museum journals and, in 1916, was the first director of the Zoological Survey of India.
