Etymology From Westheide (1995: 77): "The species is named for Dr. Gesa Hartmann-Schröder in bonor of her 65th birthday and in recognition of the fact that she, like no polychaete taxonomist before her, has given the meiofaunal polychaetes their full due in her many, extensive systematic-faunistic studies. A great deal of what is known about the taxonomy and zoogeography of these organisms has come from her work. Her publications include descriptions of three Pisione species and a paper dealing primarily with the male genital organs of the Pisionidae, structures that have become particularly important for pisionid taxonomy (Hartmann-Schröder, 1970)."
