Etymology The specific epithet pege is derived from the Greek word πηγή, meaning 'a spring (of water)', ''to indicate that this study [the publication where the species was described] sprang from the finding of this species'' (Banse, 1969: 2617). [details]
Habitat Coarse sediments of sand and broken shells, at shelf depths. [details]
Type locality Washington, Pacific Ocean. From one of two dredge hauls from coarse sediment, taken near San Juan Island, Washington (approx. 48º32.5'N, 122º58.5'W): 1) between Reid Rock and Turn Island, on sand from about 60 m in summer 1961; 2) at a nearby station in rather clean sediment mostly made of broken shells, from about 100 m, in summer 1962.
