From editor or global species database
Status A nomen nudum from McIntosh (1885: 241) as Lumbriconereis capensis, and a non-existent name. There is no Lumbriconereis capensis Grube, and the McIntosh footnote for the citation to Grube directs to Grube text which does not contain that name. In his original description of Lumbriconereis pettigrewi on page 240 McIntosh has a text figure 4 captioned as "Maxillae and dental plates of Lumbriconereis capensis" but in his errata on page VIII he corrects this as "240, in explanation of woodcut, fig. 4 “ capensis” should be pettigrewi.” Thus, as is elsewhere apparent Lumbriconereis capensis Grube does not exist.. Listing only in Day (1967: 427), suggested questionably authored by Grube (as "? Grube"), undated, as a synonym of Lumbrineris coccinea, [details]
