Diagnosis ''Chauvinelia with cylindrical palps. Cephalic hood margin papillose, dorsally entire, ventrally with a median rounded lobe'' (Salazar-Vallejo et al., 2007: 471). [details]
Distribution Northeast Atlantic, Bay of Biscay. Known only from the type locality. [details]
Etymology The specific epithet biscayensis is composed by the toponym 'Biscay' followed by the Latin suffix -ensis, meaning 'of' or 'from a place', and makes referece to the type locality of the species, the Bay of Biscay. [details]
Habitat Kirkegaard (1982: 256) considered all the species belonging to the genus Chauvinelia as being bathypelagic or epibenthic. Salazar-Vallejo et al. (2007: 469) considered them as being bathypelagic. [details]
