Diagnosis ''Chauvinelia with cylindrical palps. Cephalic hood margin papillose, dorsally entire, ventrally with a median rounded lobe'' (Salazar-Vallejo et al., 2007: 471). [details]

Habitat Kirkegaard (1982: 256) considered all the species belonging to the genus Chauvinelia as being bathypelagic or epibenthic. Salazar-Vallejo et al. (2007: 469) considered them as being bathypelagic. [details]
