Habitat Boring species is calcareous materials. California (USA): in burrows in the shells of Tegula brunnea (Philippi, 1849) occupied by the hermit crab Pagurus granosimanus (Stimpson, 1859), in shells of Podesmus macrochisma (Deshayes, 1839), and in low encrusting algae of the genus Lithothamnion Heydrich, 1897. Vancouver Island (Canada): in shells of living Hinnites giganteus (J.E. Gray, 1825) [= Crassadoma gigantea (J.E. Gray, 1825)]. Batangas and Mindoro (Philippines): in shells of Drupa rubusidaeus Röding, 1798 inhabited by unidentified hermit crabs, dead bivalve shells, Drupella cornus (Röding, 1798) inhabited by Dardanus lagopodes (Forskål, 1775), and from shell of Drupa sp. inhabited by Calcinus gaimardii (H. Milne-Edwards, 1848). [details]
