Etymology Not stated by Wesenberg-Lund. The specific epithet multisetosa is a New Latin adjective meaning 'having many (or multiple) bristles (or chaetae), and may refer to the presence of capillary chaetae to the end of the body in the type species, which is typical of the genus: "It differs, however, from these [genera of Amphitritinae without gills] - as from all other Amphitritinae - in having capillary setae in all segments" (Wesenberg-Lund, 1950: 54).
