Etymology The specific epithet parplatyceps is composed by the prefix of Greek origin par-, a variant of para- and most often used attached to words to give the sense of 'beside', 'side by side' or 'near', and the specific epithet of Dasybranchus platyceps Hartman, 1947, and refers to the close resemblance between the two species.
