Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet longicirrata is a New Latin adjective (masculine: longicirratus), composed by the Latin prefix longi-, meaning 'long', and the Latin adjective cirrata (masculine: cirratus), meaning 'having cirri'. Presumably it refers to the length of the dorsal cirri in the branchial region, where they can be longer than the projecting chaetae, and at least twice as long as in segment 3: ''Sie [the dorsal cirri] sind hier länger als die vorragenden Borsten und mindestens doppelt so lang wie im 3. Segment'' (Hartmann-Schröder, 1965: 199). [details]
