Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet grandis is a Latin adjective meaning 'large', 'great' or 'tall', and presumably refers to the size of the type specimens, described as being 18.0-34.5 mm long, 1.2-1.5 mm wide, 1.5-2.0 mm high, and having 62-66 pairs of parapodia. [details]
Habitat Brackish water (11.0-19.0 p.p.t.) at shallow depths (1-4 fathoms; 1.8-7.3 m), in fine black mud in oyster beds. [details]
Type locality Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka, Tambalagam Bay (= Tambalagam Lake), centre of the lake (geocoordinates not provided, estimated with gazetteer to be approximately lat. 8.52º, long. 81.16º). [details]
