Authority Hartmann-Schröder created 'Fridericiella' as a replacement name in a footnote. However, the authorship as if by Laubier has been incorrectly used by several works (and also in WoRMS up to March 2015). [details]

Nomenclature A replacement name introduced for a 'Hesionella' instance as a junior homonym, as Hesionella Hartman, 1939 is senior to Hesionella Friedrich, 1956, and senior to Hesionella Wesenberg-Lund, 1950. [details]

Spelling While Friedericiella is the spelling in Fauchald 1977 (family guide book), perhaps an emendment if Hartmann-Schröder misspelled her new name by one letter, Hartmann-Schröder (1959) actually used 'Fridericiella' rather than the obvious 'Friedriciella'. As 'Friedericiella' is an even less obvious spelling it seems best to retain Hartmann-Schröder's spelling, as Pleijel (1998:159 attributed to Laubier) did in his hesionid overview. [details]

Synonymy As the type species is a Microphthalmus according to Westheide, and also earlier Pleijel (1998), the genus is a junior synonym of Microphthalmus. [details]
