Etymology Author states that Pseudobanchiomma is named for the "superficial resemblence of this genus to the genus Branchiomma". Gender not stated but all '-omma' suffix sabellid genera are neuter as it derives from the neuter Greek word for eye, omma, ommatos,. [details]
Grammatical gender Putignano et al. (2026: 340) correctly point out that Pseudobranchiomma is neuter, and that some endings of species-group adjectival names need to be modified to reflect this. The last letters of the genus name derive from the neuter Greek word for eye, omma, ommatos, the same as in sabellid genera Branchiomma and Megalomma.
Putignano et al (2026) list the following updated spellings, but without listing the original names or the adjectives from which the names derive:
Pseudobranchiomma grande (Baird, 1865)
Pseudobranchiomma longum (Kinberg, 1866);
Pseudobranchiomma minimum Nogueira & Knight-Jones, 2002;
Pseudobranchiomma orientale (McIntosh, 1885);
Pseudobranchiomma pallidum Capa & Murray, 2016;
Pseudobranchiomma pictum (McIntosh, 1885);
Pseudobranchiomma punctatum (Treadwell, 1906);
Pseudobranchiomma schizogenicum Tovar-Hernández & Dean, 2014 [misspelling. See notes for record];
Pseudobranchiomma serratibranche (Grube, 1878);
Pseudobranchiomma zebuense (McIntosh, 1885)
[details]
Type designation Type species is Pseudobranchiomma emersoni Jones, 1962, by original designation (see Jones, 1962: 198). [details]
