Etymology There is no explanation of the name Polydora normalis by Day. 'normalis' means according to rule or normal. Perhaps Day was indicating the species lacked unique characters compare to congeners. [details]
Type locality Norrumbene Estuary, Durban Bay, Inhaca Island, Mocambique. There is no geolocation data but a Google maps estimate is -26.0329, 32.9140, which is estuarine near a marine station. [details]
