Grammatical gender According to article 30.1.4.4 of the ICZN (1999), "A compound genus-group ending in the suffix . . . -ides . . . is to be treated as masculine unless its author, when establishing the name, stated it had another gender or treated it as such by combining it with an adjectival species-group name in another gender form." The genus Aglaurides was erected by Ehlers (1868: 408) as a replacement name for Aglaura Lamarck, 1818, preoccupied by Aglaura Péron & Lesueur 1810 in Cnidaria. It included a single species, Aglaura fulgida Lamarck, 1818, which Ehlers recombined as Aglaurides fulgida, establishing this way the gender of the new genus as feminine. [details]
