Type locality Loire River estuary, Northern France, Atlantic Ocean. The species was described with base on specimens from three different locations in the right bank of the Loire, none of them being specifically designated as the type locality: 1) near Donges (approx. 47.305°, -2.072°; Donges was bombed and destroyed during WWII, and posteriorly rebuit inwards, being now detached from the bank); 2) near the quarries of Lavau (= Lavau-sur-Loire), near Savenay (approx. 47.305°, -1.988°; these quarries are now flooded and are known as Le Trou Bleu); 3) near the mole of Lavau (= Lavau-sur-Loire), in the eastern part of the town (approx. 47.3047°, -1.9642°). [details]
