Authority Chamberlin (1919:470) used new subfamily Caobangiiniae, and by the principle of coordination is author of Caobangiidae, rather than Jones (1974) who first used Caobangiidae at family rank. [details]
Synonymy Fitzhugh (1989) placed Caobangia in the (then) Fabriciinae in Sabellidae, thus synonymising Caobangiidae, then Fitzhugh (1991) removed Caobangia from Fabriciinae and placed it in Sabellinae. [details]
