Etymology authors: Amphicteis chilensis was "named because it was found on the coast of China." This is true, however the type locality is far from the Chinese coast (about 370 km offshore) and lies South of Korea. The paratype, which is the only other record, was found close to Hainan Island in the South China Sea. [details]
