Polychaeta taxon details
Holotype USNM 1013686, geounit Mar del Plata [details]
From editor or global species database
Etymology Not stated, but evidently after Argentina, the country of origin. [details]
Taxonomy The specimens (4 collected on 2 occasions) are suggested to be juveniles, and are said to be similar in some aspects to N. grubei, from the eastern Pacific. The holotype material is at Smithsonian and only the collector name, Marchetti, is documented, although the paratypes were collected by Orensanz, and it seems likely all the material was given to Blake by him (Orensanz now deceased). Type locality Mar del Plata, "Rocas Pya Chica", Argentina, intertidal, no geolocation given, no place name found, suggested as close to -38.0207, -57.5262 (perhaps Pya is transcription error for Playa?) [details]
