Synonymy Nereis gisserana was regarded as a synonym of Neanthes rubicunda (Ehlers, 1868), but Glasby (2015: 219) and Pamungkas & Glasby (2015: 11) treat it as a valid Neanthes species, in discussion of records of a similar species they record as Neanthes sp. cf. N. gisserana (Horst, 1924). [details]
