Etymology authors: T. posteria is "derived from the Latin posterior, meaning ‘hind’. This name refers to the shift in the appearance of the branchial filaments from relatively posterior chaetigers. The gender of the genus name, Timarete, is feminine and the specific name of this new species is designated as feminine." However, "posteria" appears to be a novel spelling. The closest Latin adjective is posterus a um, so the spelling would be expected to be postera, as has been used for other taxa. [details]
