Type material From Maciolek (1984: 54): "The type specimen of Scolelepis viridis Verrill was sought at the Peabody Museum at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, U.S.A., but it has apparently been lost. A vial containing a label identifying the contents as the type of S. viridis Verrill contained specimens of Nerine agilis Verrill ( = Scolelepis squamata). From Verrill's original descriptions, it is certain that he was not looking at a species with a pointed prostomium when he described S. viridis, nor did Hartman (1942) mention this possible discrepancy. Therefore, the contents of the type vial must have been switched at some time after 1942." [details]
