Collections of Pogonophora made by the research vessels Oregon II, Oregon, Explorer, and Vema in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico contain 17 species, only five of which have been described before. Eight new species and one new genus are described in this paper; four others are probably new but the material is insufficient for full description. Most of the collections were made in the 500 to 650 m depth-zone of the southern Caribbean and the distribution of pogonophore species suggests the existence of zoogeographical regions associated with different current systems.
